President Obama Slams Mitt Romney’s “47 Percent” Comment In Second Presidential Debate

President Obama waited until the end of Tuesday night’s (Oct 16) presidential debate to really go in on Mitt Romney.

After shaming Governor Romney with several notable one-liners and zingers, during his closing argument during the second debate, the President brought up Mitt Romney’s infamous “47 percent” comments about Americans who see themselves as “victims” and are “dependent” on government assistance.

“I care about 100 percent of the American people. I want 100 percent of the American people to have a bright and prosperous future,” Romney said at the end of his final statement during the debate.

But Obama wasn’t trying to hear all of that nonsense. After patting Romney on the back for being a good man who loves his family and cares about his faith, the President went in for the kill.

He quickly turned to Romney’s 47 percent comment, which refers to the percentage of Americans who don’t pay income tax, which is something Obama was criticized for not doing during the first debate.

“But I also believe that when he said behind closed doors that 47 percent of the country considered themselves victims, who refuse personal responsibility, think about who he was talking about,” Obama said.

He went on:

“Folks on Social Security who have worked all their lives. Veterans who have sacrificed for this country. Students who are out there trying to hopefully advance their own dreams, but also this country’s dreams. Soldiers who are overseas fighting for us right now. People who are working hard every day, paying payroll tax, gas tax, but don’t make enough income.

“And I want to fight for them and that’s what I’ve been doing for the last four years. Because if they succeed, I believe the country succeeds. When my grandfather fought in World War II and he came back and got a GI Bill that allowed him to go to college, that wasn’t a handout –that was something that advanced the entire country and I want to make sure that the next generation has those same opportunities. That’s why I’m asking for your vote and that’s why I’m asking for another four years.”

And with that, the debate ended and Mittens wasn’t even able to respond!
