She not playing when it comes to her “Baby Boy”…
Chatting on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show, the mom talked about her son Marcell who was recently accepted into college, but unfortunately for him, Taraji has refused to pay for his education until he realizes how difficult it is to make some mulah.
To teach her teen son a lesson, the actress made him sit out his first semester to get a job and earn some money in order to fund some of his education.
”Even though he is privileged, he doesn’t remember the bad times when we were eating Hamburger Helper (boxed food) and peanut butter and jelly, he remembers all the good times. I don’t want to raise this privileged kid, who’s out of touch, so I made him sit out the first semester and he has to get a job.”
“He called his grandmother, he was like, ‘It’s hard out here, it’s hard to find a job.’ So I was like, ‘Yeah, I need you to know that.”
Added the actress:
”I need him to see how real it is out here. It builds character. I told him, ‘College is like an investment. I’m investing my money in your future, and if I feel like you’re a bad investment, I’m taking my money back.”
Nothing like tough love! Taraji is trying to teach her son that not everything in life comes served on a silver platter. We just wish more Hollyweird parents would teach their kids the joys of a hard knock life too.
